Our Stockton Raptors "Hockey is for Everyone" Programs

This program is the initial program for youth that have never ice skated before. The Coaches and Staff will instruct the skater how to gear up with the required safety gear and lace up their skates.  Upon entering the ice, each skater will learn the basics of forward skating, turning and stopping. Additionally, learning to be safe with others on the ice and the etiquette of team skating. During the initial sessions skaters will be evaluated by the Coaches and placed accordingly to their skills level, to progress and challenge each skater. Most importantly, having fun while learning to skate.

The fundamentals of the sport of Hockey also include stick and puck handling and passing the puck to teammates and shooting pucks at the net. Skaters will also be instructed on the fundamentals of the game of hockey including the positions and duties of players and positions. At this level, the skaters will continue to improve their basic skills and build upon these skills by participating in team drills. Learning the rules of the sport of Hockey.

The skaters will work in groups just as they do in the previous levels, continuing with skating skills drills, strength conditioning and stick and puck handling. The skaters will also participate in scrimmage practice, under the supervision of Coaches to mentor and help build upon their skills, strengths and improve on skills that need more practice and to hone all skills to play as a team member and  to learn the essentials of the sport of hockey as a whole.  At this time, their will be more emphasis on dry land practice, or what is referred to as off ice skills building and strength conditioning as a team.

°And...

As our programs develop and becomes more defined, our goal is to form teams to play exhibition games at the Oak Park Ice Arena, age appropriate, and at youth hockey division levels. Our future goal is to bring the sport of Hockey to all schools as part of their physical education curriculum and afterschool programs. And moreover, to the High Schools within our local School Districts, following the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) regulations, maintaining their GPA and meeting school requirements, so that student athletes may earn their school sport letter, at the J.V. and Varsity level. In addition to earn credits towards their required Physical education requirements ( pending approval by the SJCOE). Our organization believes this will help to enable and continue our schools to offer a high quality sports program, when many schools are having to limit or cut their extramural sports programs, while embracing academic tutoring and community giving. A healthy community enriches all the people in it... Our youth are our future.

We will continue to build our website to include biographies of all our Coaches, Teachers/Tutors and Supporting Staff who are dedicated and invested into making this program and organization a success!
